My love of cookbooks

I don't know if you know this about me but I love to read cookbooks and reread them and reread them.

I love the pages with their food spatter on them.
I love how you find new recipes in them even if you have read them a billion times.
I love the photography.
I love the side notes that the authors write.
I love the notes that I wrote.
I love my grandmothers' cookbooks and all of their notes.
I love the smell of them.
Hmmmm....am I forgetting anything?

One day I want to write my own cookbook.  I just have to decide on what genre that I want to go with. In the meantime I have been collecting some images on Pinterest of features that I love.

"Let’s Eat" Book Cover | Tom Parker Bowles this is what my cookbooks look like
I love the notes

// Blueberry tart with meringue
I love the black backdrop

Fig, Mascarpone and Pistachio Tart Love this style photography
I love the clean, rustic simplicity

I love this easy to read & use style with the side notes.

What are some key features of cookbooks that you love or look for?  I would love to have your feedback for my future cookbook!!

  1. My favorite books always have great pictures. Being the organizational freak that I am, it makes me crazy when there is not a clear order to how the recipes flow. I also like ones that have a bit of sentiment to them.

  2. I am a fan of books that lie flat and the texture of the paper easy to write on with a pencil...I feel weird writing in pen in a cookbook that is too pretty. I love to peruse the pictures and dream, though, with the pretty ones :-) I have one that I got in Maui a few years back that I keep meaning to show you - the author signed it for me after her demonstration of awesome Cashew Chicken!
