Stocking Stuffer Ideas - who wants oranges in their stockings these days

This year for Christmas I decided that I was going to stuff my girls' stockings with famous candies from around the world.  Here is the article that I found to use as a reference. HERE  You can find most of them on Amazon in the gourmet grocery section.

When I was a kid, my mom seemed to sometimes forget about the stockings.  My brother and I always knew because she would dump the fruit and nut bowl into our stockings.  It's so funny looking back on that memory.  We would grab our stockings tote them back into the kitchen and put the oranges, apples and nuts back into the empty bowl.  So funny!  I always loved the little date coupons that she would put in there though.  They were always really good ones like an overnight trip to Charleston with just me &  her or one time it was a day off of school and we went shopping in a big city!  Thanks for the fun times Mama!

Here are my picks for hopefully a memorable stocking this year:

Austria - Mozart Balls: a ball of green pistachio marzipan covered in a layer of nougat is with a dark chocolate coating.

Brazil - Brigadeiro: national truffle.  Here is a recipe to make at home. HERE

Germany -  Kinder Surprise: egg-shaped chocolate shell that has a toy inside.

India - Chimes Mango Ginger Chews: real ginger and pureed mango juice make this chewy candy.

Japan: -  Pocky: cookie sticks dipped in chocolate, strawberry, and flavored toppings.

Peru - Tejas: dulce de leche with dried fruit and nuts covered in a white chocolate coating.

Sweden- Daim Bar: crunchy butter almond bar covered in milk chocolate.

Switzerland - Toblerone: Swiss chocolate in unique triangular shape with nougat, almonds and honey.

Turkey - Turkish Delight: small cubes of gel made of mostly starch and sugar. It can be filled with various nuts or dried fruits and is usually dusted with icing sugar.

Britain - Maynards Wine Gums: Chewy candies that come in a mixture of 5 shapes, each named after a different type of wine (These are for the adult stockings) and Cadbury Chocolate bars in a wide variety.
