Bring the Season Inside

One of the main principals in Waldorf is setting your day with nature.  I really really like this concept.  How can you really start your day if you haven't stepped outside to see what it feels like.  We try to do this every morning.  It's not always first thing but as soon as possible.  It's a great practice!

Another thing that goes along the same idea is making a tray of gathered things from outside to place indoors to help give you the sense of the season that you are in.

We went on a nature walk adventure to some different areas of town and gathered in a bag all kinds of things that reminded us of Fall.

Here are the things that we all collected.  I put them on an old serving tray and placed it in the middle of our dining room table.  I added a candle to add a little meal ambiance.

We love to play I Spy games sometimes at dinner using items from our tray.  I love the imaginative descriptions that they come up with.

  1. That is a great idea! I'll have to look into this curriculum next year.
