My mother has given each of my girls their own set of nesting dolls when they were born. Inside each one has our maternal lineage written. It is such a special gift that I keep locked up in my doll cabinet until they are older.

If you want to make these for a special gift, make sure you contact your local pottery store so they can order them in for you. They are a little on the pricier side but I think it is well worth the cost for such a special gift. It would also open the door to wonderful conversation about your heritage and stories to tell.
